Lost in the Canadian wilds

Three weeks ago I was literally lost in the Canadian wilds. I took a pickup truck from Montreal to Québec all the way up to Gaspé. That’s 3.200 kilometres on the road and 100 kilometres by foot, crossing woods, rivers and mountains.
Canada is English as well as French. It borders the US in the South and in the Northwest. The First Nations arrived there around 12,000 years ago, and Europeans, mostly the French and the English, colonized the region from the 15th century onwards. Canada became virtually independed from Britain in 1931.

Canada is a boreal regions with long, cold winters. Temperatures fall under 40 degrees Celsius and noone bats an eyelash. Almost 70 % of Canada are tundra or mountainous regions. Half of Canadian woods are still old-growth forests.
